SH-AWD Technology Explained

SH-AWD Technology Explained

Acura offers an industry-leading all-wheel drive technology called the SH-AWD system or Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. This state-of-the-art system offers top-level performance in all possible situations, from snowy roads to winding roads.

Intelligent AWD

The SH-AWD system stands out by being responsive which means it kicks in when it's needed, but when stability is good wherever the roads are clear, the system doesn't intervene in order to improve efficiency. On the other hand, if there is a loss of grip, up to 70% of the engine's power is transferred to the rear axle and the system can even send up to 90% in certain situations.

That said, the SH-AWD system is able to distribute power between the wheels of an axle 0-100% left to right on the rear axle. This capability ensures optimum performance in all possible situations. The SH-AWD's ability to react precisely to weight distribution, the angle of a turn or perceived G-Force, and independently adjust the power delivery is unique to the SH-AWD system.

This system is available on the Acura TLX, Acura RDX, Acura MDX and Acura NSX. Extremely efficient in winter, this system is also useful in summer without compromising fuel consumption and performance. Come and learn more about Acura models equipped with the SH-AWD system today.
